Simone Ispahani took her love of coffee and combined it with her will to serve others and founded Social Brew, a new e-commerce specialty coffee company. Social Brew donates half of its proceeds to organizations fighting against human trafficking.

Ispahani was a student at Biola University, in her senior year, when she co-led a three-week mission trip to India to work with women and children who had been trafficked. She volunteered for human rights organizations like the Coalition to Abolish Slavery & Trafficking (CAST), the A21 Campaign, NEXUS Global, and Creative Visions Foundation.

After that trip, Ispahani saw the impact of human trafficking up close, which sparked the idea of Social Brew.

“You’re never too young to start something, or too old,” said Ispahani. “Your why is the biggest reason.”

According to Social Brews’ site, 40.3 million people around the world are victims of modern-day slavery, and more than 70% of them are women and girls.

Social Brew currently donates 50% of its profits to Ho’ōla Nā Pua and Beautiful Feet Wellness; each organization receives 25%.

Ho’ōla Nā Pua is a nonprofit in Hawaii that is committed to the prevention of sex trafficking and providing care for children who have been exploited. Social Brew sources is beans from Hawaii and Brazil.

Beautiful Feet Wellness provides wellness services to individuals freed from human trafficking. The nonprofit is located in Denver and offers free services to survivors.

Founder Jenny Footle said the donated funds go towards general operations.

The relationship started with Footle reaching out via email which led to an in-person meeting, and now a partnership.

“I believe in her work,” said Footle. “She’s committed to supporting this work.”

Ispahani was born in Colorado but has lived around the world. She lived in Netherland and studied at the American School of the Hague. Then she moved to Sydney, Australia and later Hawaii, where she completed high school. She then went to Los Angeles to attend Biola University. She graduated with a degree in Sociology that emphasized Criminal Justice, with a minor in Biblical Studies.

Through her life's work, she wants to educate people on the cause while inspiring others to fight for what they believe in.

Social Brew partnered with Amalfi Jets, a leading private jet charter and Jet Card Provider through its Amalfi One Jet Card Program, at the beginning of this year. Amalfi Jets has pledged to put one bag of the 100% Kona Single Origin coffee onboard all flights for both charter clients and cardholders.
